'Red' is a 2019 17hh Chestnut Thoroughbred Stallion a winning son of leading sire Union Rags, Red Knobs brings versatility, stamina, and a prestigious international pedigree to Manitoba breeders.
Winner of the Manitoba Derby and a determined second in the Canadian Derby (G3) among his five career victories, Red Knobs demonstrated significant talent while earning $285,827 across multiple surfaces and distances. His graded stakes credentials were established early with placings in the Iroquois Stakes (G3) and Street Sense Stakes at two.
By Belmont Stakes (G1) winner Union Rags, whose progeny have earned over $52 million including Santa Anita Handicap (G1) winner Express Train, Santa Anita Oaks (G1) victor Paradise Woods, and Alabama Stakes (G1) winner Power Squeeze among others, Red Knobs represents one of North America’s most successful contemporary sire lines.
Red Knobs’ first dam, Hokey Okey, is a half sister to Dahlia Handicap (G2) winner Surya, who produced Juddmonte Spinster Stakes (G1) winner Aruna. His second dam, Wild Planet, is a stakes-winning daughter of the high class sire Nureyev. This productive family includes multiple Grade 1 performers Hoop of Colour, winner of the Santa Ana Stakes (G2), and graded stakes performer Honoured Guest.
Red Knobs demonstrated versatility and soundness throughout his career, competing successfully from ages two through four while maintaining his form across multiple racing jurisdictions. DRESS WESTERN was our past stallion. He sired 353 AQHA foals with 50% of them becoming AQHA performers. In his show years he developed many fans as he worked his way to Superiors in both Pleasure and Western Riding as well as the, 2002 Congress Championship in Jr Western Riding, 2003 World Championship in Sr. Western Riding and many other top 5 and top 10 placings.
